On a business's public record
- The business name and verified legal name
- Its domains, phone numbers and city
- Each fact with its source and the date it was checked
- License number, classes and expiry
- Insurance carrier, coverage, limits and expiry
- That a person verified with an FFN Pass may act for the business
Public records are signed so anyone can check them, and anyone can read them through this site, the API and MCP server.
Kept private
- The policy number and certificate of insurance
- The representative's name, deleted from the review once it's decided
- Reviewer notes
- The business key, which never leaves the business's wallet
Where our checks come from
- Entity status: the California Secretary of State
- Contractor licenses: the CSLB license list
-
Domains: the business's own DID document and its
_ffnDNS record, read through two DNS networks - Phones: the number listed on the business's own site, then a code by text or voice call, or a reviewer's call
- Insurance: the issuing agent, confirmed by a reviewer
- The person acting for the business: an FFN Pass, matched to the entity's officers
If you look up a business or run the audit
- Lookups, verification and the audit need no account.
- Requests are rate-limited by IP address.
- The audit reads public pages of the domain you enter and of look-alike domains, and its results are cached for that domain.
- If you dispute a record, the contact details you give are kept with the dispute only.
